We’re excited to share our ‘Tell Your Love Story’ Contest! One couple will win a free 4-5 minute wedding film ($1,500 wedding film package). Those interested in applying need to complete the following steps to qualify:
Step 1: Like the Matthew Hill Creative facebook page, if you haven’t already done so. Step 2: Share your love story with us. Not sure where to start? Tell us how you met your fiance, when you knew they were “the one” you wanted to spend the rest of your life with, and what you are most excited about being married to them. You can share your story in writing or by recording a video of yourself (doesn’t have to be fancy) and send it in a direct message to the Matthew Hill Creative facebook page. You can also email it to matthewhillvideo@gmail.com if that’s more convenient for you! This Sunday, we are participating in the 32nd Annual Dan's Bridal & Tuxedo Bridal Experience! Each vendor gives a door prize and ours is a date night to one of our favorite restaurants The Delft Bistro! Stop by and see us at the Great Lakes Room on NMU’s campus from 12pm to 3pm!
At Matthew Hill Creative, we’re all about capturing those moments, both big and small, that add up to a lifetime of love and happiness. That’s why this month, as a present to those out there looking to commit to their significant other, we’re offering free proposal videos! The video Matt caught on his iPhone of our proposal is one of our favorites to look back at. I knew Matt was going to propose the week he did, I just didn’t think it was happening the night he chose! At that time, we were consistently working opposite shifts so we had limited time to spend together each night. We had started the habit walking at the Dome right when he got off of work at 9PM. The night my ring was done, Matt set up his phone on a tripod on the ground in the parking lot of my apartment. Then he let me know he was there to pick me up and got back into his car to pretend like he hadn’t been out of it. I came jogging outside, excited to see him, and he got out of the car to give me a hug. Then he pulled the ring out of his pocket and proposed, right there in the snowing parking lot, in front of the headlights of his car. I was so surprised because I was sure he was going to propose over the weekend. I had thought the ring was going to be done the next day so it wasn’t even a thought in my mind that he was going to propose that night. My response was, “WHAT!? NO!” and I curled up in a ball, laughing and crying. I was so shocked it was happening at that moment. Matt waited patiently for me to compose myself (most people commented on how long I left him on his knee… It wasn’t intentional!) and well… you know the rest. It’s all there. That video is one we treasure. It wasn’t the most edited video we have. It was raw yet we love as much as our other videos. We’d like to help you future grooms out there, capture the moment you ask your person to be with you forever. We’re willing to work out a way for us to secretly record your proposal and the moments shortly after. Contact us today! We have limited availability this month and will do our best to fit as many interested future grooms as we can into our schedule. This offer end January 1st and excludes Christmas Eve and Christmas Day proposals as we’ll be with our family. Until Next Time, Matt & Lauren The release of Brian and Ceri's Engagement video! It was awesome to see them share their feelings with each other. This is exactly the kind of thing we love to film! Writing letters to each other is one of our favorite ways to add more of you to either your Wedding or Engagement! We had a blast shooting Brian and Ceri’s engagement portraits this September! It was a beautiful, yet blustery day at Little Presque, just outside of Marquette, and the four of us had a lovely time wandering around in the woods. Brian and Ceri are Illinois natives who have been living in Marquette for a couple years now, and they are tying the knot in the summer of 2019 in Chicago. They love to laugh, drink chocolate milk, and stargaze together.
Our favorite thing about Brian and Ceri is how they aren’t afraid to show their genuine love for each other. You can see it in the way they look at each other, smile at each other, hold each other. They even took the time to write letters prior to the shoot and let me tell you, they were beautiful! You’ll get to hear parts of it in their engagement video that will be coming soon. Brian shared that he knew that he loved her just two days after meeting her. We can wait to see what the next chapters of your love story have in store for you, Brian and Ceri! Until Next Time, Matt & Lauren Diving in to edit these this week! Here is a sneak peek of Ceri and Brian's engagement session. It was a joy to photograph them and to experience how happy they are to be getting married! I also got to film an engagement video that will also be released soon!
As the leaves continue to change and the temperature starts to drop, our favorite month of the year is quickly approaching!
Our birthdays fall within three days of each other in October. For our first birthdays as a married couple, we decided to take a trip to Copper Country. We had a blast driving the winding roads to see the beautiful leaves. We took a trip up Brockway Mountain and stopped in Eagle Harbor to check out the waterfall there. On the way home, we stopped at Hilltop for a birthday cinnamon roll (how could you not?) and hiked to Canyon Falls. This trip is what inspired us to “chase waterfalls” throughout the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It’s now our favorite way to spend a Sunday so you’ll be seeing more photos and videos of the ones we’ve visited so far. Until Next Time, Matt and Lauren While the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is where we do a majority of our work, Matt and I do love opportunities to travel for photography and videography projects, especially the Milwaukee area! We have many friends and family members living in that area so we find ourselves in Wisconsin quite often. Karla and Gavin had a beautiful morning wedding ceremony and brunch reception at Bartolotta’s Lake Park Bistro in Milwaukee. The venue was GORGEOUS and so was the bride. This couple didn’t let the rain get them down on their wedding day! After the formal reception ended, Karla and Gavin arranged an after party for friends and family to continue to celebrate their marriage. They had asked us if we would make a short highlight film of the event and we were happy to make that happen! We all gathered at Evolution Milwaukee, an awesome bar with a rooftop lounge AND PING PONG! At the end of the video, you’ll see Karla and her sister, Laura sharing a moment and then they’re joined by Gavin and Laura’s husband, Evan. Matt filmed this moment from afar and we didn’t find out until after the video was shared that this was when Laura told Karla that she was going to be an aunt! They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but this moment captured on video is definitely priceless. We were so blessed to be a part of their day! Until Next Time, Lauren and Matt Letters are a big part of our story - maybe that is why we love them so much! Matt and I wrote letters the summer we started dating. I realized I had feelings for Matt when he moved to NYC in June of 2015. His last night in Marquette before the big move, I told him I was bad at goodbyes but mentioned that I liked writing letters. We wrote a letter every week of the summer until he decided to come back to give this “crazy little thing called love” a chance (Matt’s words, not mine). On our wedding day, Matt and I chose not to do a first look. Our letters to each other that morning were our only contact before I walked down the aisle.
Letters help you to express your feelings. In the whirlwind of your wedding day, they give you the opportunity to speak words of affirmation and love to your partner. By taking the time to write your future spouse a letter, you set the tone for this special day before you even get to see each other. From the perspective of us, the wedding film makers, we love capturing the moment where you read your letter. It helps to preserve a memory that would otherwise go unseen and unheard. Being able to hear your spouse reading the words of their letter to you and seeing your reaction to the letter to yourself will be one you hold dearly as you go through life together. Now that we’re married, we honestly don’t write each other letters that often. We do, however, cherish the notes and letters we’ve written over the past two years. I can only imagine how much we’ll treasure them as the years continue go by. We hope that you take the time to write your favorite person a love letter before your special day - we know you won’t regret it. Until Next Time, Lauren (& Matt) My friend Brendan is getting married in October! When we first met his soon-to-be wife in Chicago, I got to take their engagement photos! Brendan has always been a great friend to me and to see him happy with Amanda is awesome. It is a great feeling when your best friend meets someone who becomes their new best friend. I am passing the reigns to Amanda to be Brendan's primary caregiver and secret keeper. I am still working on my Best Man speech, and I don't want to give it all away so these photos will have to tide you over until then. Until Next Time, Matt and Lauren |
