“I find our story beautiful. God has a way of timing things perfectly. There were a lot of bumps in the road. Ones where I almost lost who I was, but with faith, perseverance, and Tony always building me back up, we have created the perfect life together.” - Erin DiCarlo
This quote really resonated with Matt and I when we read Erin’s story a few months ago. We had so many awesome entries and, again, every love story is beautiful in its own way. But Erin and Tony’s story began 10 years ago when they went to the same high school. Their story really captured how we learn and grow together in love, and the perseverance that true love requires. Matt and I believe that God’s timing is perfect, and that is a huge part of our story as well.
Choosing a winner whose wedding was a week after the contest deadline had its challenges, but Erin and Tony made it so easy to join in their wedding festivities last minute. We loaded up our jeep that sunny February morning and headed to Houghton. We got some gorgeous drone footage of early light on the bridge and the Continental Fire Company, and captured some getting ready shots with both the bridesmaids and the groomsmen.
Erin and Tony’s wedding was complete with so many beautiful details. Antlers were incorporated into the decorations to show their love of outdoor activities. Erin looked as beautiful as could be in her lace dress with a birdcage veil, and the beautiful backdrop necklace. Their wedding party was a blast to follow around for the day. Their son, Jace was awesome! He had the best jokes and dance moves of the day, and as you can see for yourself from the intro to the video, a very sweet and heartfelt speech in front of all the guests.
It was a beautiful day and the perfect way to kick off our 2018 wedding season!
Until Next Time,
Lauren and Matt
Matthew Hill Creative has had a very busy winter - participating in a bridal show, going on coffee dates with clients, filming a wedding in Houghton, doing short films for missionaries, editing films, purchasing the rest of our gear, and scheduling projects for the summer.
Busy is good. We’re excited to announce that we are booked for 2018! We can’t WAIT to celebrate this year’s couples! We’ve already started booking for 2019! Couples who book us before July 1, 2018 can snag our 2018 prices for their 2019 weddings. Know someone who is getting married in 2019? Let them know we are here to help them capture their day!
Winter was also busy for us personally. We celebrated the life of a grandmother, the birth and baptism of our goddaughter, Caroline, kept up with our other jobs, lead a marriage group through our church, etc. Matt and I have loved our two years in our tiny apartment in Marquette. It was the perfect place for us to start our marriage and grow together. Now we have found a new place to live in Negaunee, with more room for an office and being able to host friends.
We’re excited to see some of the dreams we’ve dreamt up at our old apartment come to life this year. We’ve been quiet this April as we’ve transitioned from one place to another. Be on the look-out for our blogs and projects that are headed your way in the coming weeks and months! Also, thank you, as always, for following along with us on this adventure!
Until Next Time,
Lauren and Matt
This morning Lauren and I went out to catch the sunrise. Living here is always worth it when you get to be surrounded by such beauty. It's even more worth it when you get to fly a drone! Then afterwards we went and got doughnuts!
Winter Weddings!! How beautiful! Erin and Tony your day was great! Here is a little teaser.
In January, we had the opportunity to film Josh and Saydi's engagement video. These high school sweethearts have a terrific story, and we hope that you enjoy hearing about how it all began!
Chasing waterfalls is one of our favorite things to do and has become a big part of our story! This was from a trip Lauren and I took to Canyon Falls in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan this past fall.
This past week we hit 200 likes on our Facebook page! This was a short term goal that we were happy to accomplish and celebrate. We are happy to be offering Marquette couples Wedding Films and are excited about where our business is going!
We've been busy reading the submissions to our Tell Your Love Story Contest the past couple weeks. It'll be tough to pick the winner but there is still time to enter! If you know someone getting married in 2018, let them know about the contest and the chance they have for the free wedding film!
We’re excited to share our ‘Tell Your Love Story’ Contest! One couple will win a free 4-5 minute wedding film ($1,500 wedding film package). Those interested in applying need to complete the following steps to qualify:
Step 1: Like the Matthew Hill Creative facebook page, if you haven’t already done so.
Step 2: Share your love story with us. Not sure where to start? Tell us how you met your fiance, when you knew they were “the one” you wanted to spend the rest of your life with, and what you are most excited about being married to them. You can share your story in writing or by recording a video of yourself (doesn’t have to be fancy) and send it in a direct message to the Matthew Hill Creative facebook page. You can also email it to email@example.com if that’s more convenient for you!
We think everyone’s story is beautiful so anyone who applies and completes the above steps will receive a gift of 10% off any of our wedding film packages (as long as their date is available).

This Sunday, we are participating in the 32nd Annual Dan's Bridal & Tuxedo Bridal Experience! Each vendor gives a door prize and ours is a date night to one of our favorite restaurants The Delft Bistro! Stop by and see us at the Great Lakes Room on NMU’s campus from 12pm to 3pm!
At Matthew Hill Creative, we’re all about capturing those moments, both big and small, that add up to a lifetime of love and happiness. That’s why this month, as a present to those out there looking to commit to their significant other, we’re offering free proposal videos!
The video Matt caught on his iPhone of our proposal is one of our favorites to look back at. I knew Matt was going to propose the week he did, I just didn’t think it was happening the night he chose! At that time, we were consistently working opposite shifts so we had limited time to spend together each night. We had started the habit walking at the Dome right when he got off of work at 9PM. The night my ring was done, Matt set up his phone on a tripod on the ground in the parking lot of my apartment. Then he let me know he was there to pick me up and got back into his car to pretend like he hadn’t been out of it. I came jogging outside, excited to see him, and he got out of the car to give me a hug. Then he pulled the ring out of his pocket and proposed, right there in the snowing parking lot, in front of the headlights of his car.
I was so surprised because I was sure he was going to propose over the weekend. I had thought the ring was going to be done the next day so it wasn’t even a thought in my mind that he was going to propose that night. My response was, “WHAT!? NO!” and I curled up in a ball, laughing and crying. I was so shocked it was happening at that moment. Matt waited patiently for me to compose myself (most people commented on how long I left him on his knee… It wasn’t intentional!) and well… you know the rest. It’s all there.
That video is one we treasure. It wasn’t the most edited video we have. It was raw yet we love as much as our other videos. We’d like to help you future grooms out there, capture the moment you ask your person to be with you forever. We’re willing to work out a way for us to secretly record your proposal and the moments shortly after.
Contact us today! We have limited availability this month and will do our best to fit as many interested future grooms as we can into our schedule. This offer end January 1st and excludes Christmas Eve and Christmas Day proposals as we’ll be with our family.
Until Next Time,
Matt & Lauren
